Growing Up Like Jesus

And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52

When Jesus was 12 years old, His parents brought Him to the Festival of the Passover in Jerusalem. After the festival, Jesus’ parents went back home. After a one-day journey, they realized Jesus was not with them so they returned to Jerusalem to look for Him. They finally found Jesus in the temple courts, sitting with the religious teachers, listening and asking them questions. Jesus was curious, teachable, and eager to learn.

The Bible says Jesus was filled with wisdom. Knowledge without wisdom is not complete. We need to be knowledgeable, but we also need the wisdom from God in using the knowledge we have. Jesus had both knowledge and wisdom!

Just like Jesus, let’s grow up with so much eagerness to learn about God’s words. Be teachable with God’s teaching and be filled with His wisdom. Let’s be quick to listen to God’s words and be wise in our words.

As a young boy, Jesus was obedient and kind. He made Father God and His earthly parents proud. He was well-liked by others. Let's follow His example as we grow up.

Dear Jesus, I want to grow up like You. I want to increase in wisdom and in favor with God and man. Amen.
