Two Kinds of People
But the flood cannot move the house, because it was built well. Luke 6:48b
Jesus used another parable to teach His people. There were two men who were building a house.
One man built a house on a rock and he dug deep enough so the house had a solid foundation. When the flood came, the house stood firm and didn’t get shaken.
The second man built a house on the sand. When the flood came, the house collapsed and was destroyed.
The first man represents someone who makes God’s Word the foundation of their life. When we have Jesus and His words to hold onto, no matter how bad the situations we are in, we will not collapse. God’s words will be the source of our strength to face our difficulties.
The second man represents someone who relies on their own strength, wealth, intelligence, and achievement as the foundation of their life. All these things are good, but they are just temporary and limited.
God’s word is eternal and limitless. Trust in His word and be the doer of His word. That is our real source of strength in life.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, surely You are the reliable foundation of my life. Thank You for always holding me strong in every storm of my life. Amen.
