DAY 2 OF 12

Live A Fruitful Life

Every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. Luke 3:9

John the Baptist was teaching the people how to live as a good child of God who produces good fruit. One way is by doing some kindness. For example, helping others who are in need. He taught the soldiers to be just, not to accuse people falsely, and to be content with their pay. He taught the tax collectors not to collect more money than what they were supposed to collect.

A tax collector is a man who collected taxes from the people for the government. Many tax collectors during those times were not honest. They collected more money from the people than they should.

Here is a simple example from a daily life scene. Caslyn helps Orielle to buy a cute eraser for $2. However, Caslyn lies to Orielle and asks her to pay $3 instead of $2. In this case, Caslyn is behaving like a tax collector who manipulates others.

John is teaching us to always live with honesty. Do not lie to or manipulate others.  Show kindness to others and be content and grateful for our life. That is how we will produce good fruit in our life.

Prayer

Dear God, forgive me if I do not live a life that produces good fruit and blesses others. Guide and help me to live a fruitful life from now on. Amen.
