Please ExplainSample

Do you ever feel like you're on shaky ground? Maybe you're stressed because your parents are getting a divorce, and you feel stuck in the middle. Or you have to move schools and leave your friends behind. Or your parent lost their job, and you hear them worried about money. Or maybe you and a friend are fighting or drifting apart, and you wish things could go back to how they were before. Living in uncertainty can be exhausting, which is why I love this story Jesus once told about rocks and sand. In this story, he imagines one person who builds a house on solid rock and another who builds their house on sand. Then a storm comes and, well, can you guess what happened? The house on the sand collapsed while the other stood strong. So what's the point of this story? Jesus explains: God's words are like that solid rock. You'll never crumble when you build your life around what God has said, no matter how shaky life gets. Because God's words are a firm foundation.

About this Plan

Some things are hard to understand — like chemistry or verb conjugations. When we face a problem we're struggling to understand, it helps to know someone we trust can explain it to us. Jesus spent time helping his followers understand difficult ideas about God. Jesus did this by using stories and metaphors, called parables. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum we’ll unpack Jesus’ teachings.
