Please ExplainSample
Have you ever been on a sketchy amusement ride? It could be at a local fair or amusement park, but you feel like your life is in at least a small amount of danger when you go on one of these rides. You look at the tiny little safety bar meant to keep you safe from immediate doom, and maybe you start second-guessing your life's choices. Let's explore a moment in the Bible when someone wasn't scared to face something impossible.
Let's meet the main character, David, a shepherd, who was in a dangerous situation when he faced Goliath, a giant (literally and figuratively) enemy of David's people. Yet, even with everyone saying David couldn't do it, he felt secure because of his faith and knew God was on his side. He remembered all the different times in his life when God protected him. Because David felt secure in God's protection, he knew God would be with him when he faced Goliath no matter what happened. In the same way, we can trust and feel secure when God is on our side, and guess what? That is all the time!
Today, write a list of who or what helps you feel secure.

About this Plan
Some things are hard to understand — like chemistry or verb conjugations. When we face a problem we're struggling to understand, it helps to know someone we trust can explain it to us. Jesus spent time helping his followers understand difficult ideas about God. Jesus did this by using stories and metaphors, called parables. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum we’ll unpack Jesus’ teachings.
