When facing something difficult, what or who do you turn to for comfort? Maybe it's a person, favorite song, or activity you can do. Have you ever considered reading the Bible in tough situations to find comfort and support? The Bible has stories of people who have gone through difficult situations, and we can read about when people have supported each other. From reading these stories, there is a chance we might find encouragement.
The verses for today give us a sneak peek into the lives of Moses and Joshua. Moses just led his people for 40 years in the desert and finally arrived at their destination. However, it is now time for Joshua to lead, and he is nervous about taking over Moses' leadership. Moses recognizes this and encourages Joshua, saying, "don't fear, God is with you and will never leave you." How could knowing a verse like this comfort you through tough times?
Today, commit to learning one verse over the next week to help comfort you when you are going through something difficult. An idea could be to write the verse down and put it on a sticky note in your bathroom to see it every morning.

About this Plan
Some things are hard to understand — like chemistry or verb conjugations. When we face a problem we're struggling to understand, it helps to know someone we trust can explain it to us. Jesus spent time helping his followers understand difficult ideas about God. Jesus did this by using stories and metaphors, called parables. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum we’ll unpack Jesus’ teachings.
