DAY 8 OF 20

What is something you thought was true about a person, but when you got to know them, you realized it wasn't true? Maybe it was how they dressed, and you created assumptions about them. We often divide people based on who's "in" and those who are left "out" solely based on appearances. The divisions we create in life can impact how other people think of our faith.

Stories like the one we'll read in Mark remind us that Jesus would go out of his way to make sure people felt known and loved. So much so that Jesus had a bad reputation with the people in power. Nevertheless, Jesus would show that everyone belonged and that everyone could have a relationship with him.

When we say everyone, who is not in your immediate image of "everyone?" So how can you begin to include them when you think of "everyone" rather than leaving them out?

About this Plan

Please Explain

Some things are hard to understand — like chemistry or verb conjugations. When we face a problem we're struggling to understand, it helps to know someone we trust can explain it to us. Jesus spent time helping his followers understand difficult ideas about God. Jesus did this by using stories and metaphors, called parables. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum we’ll unpack Jesus’ teachings.
