Please ExplainSample
Sometimes I do this thing when someone is telling me a story. I get so into it that I forget to respond. Like when they stop talking, I sort of look at them, like I'm watching a YouTube video, while they wait for me to say something — anything. Yeah, it's weird. I don't recommend it because people usually want a response when they say things to you. Not blank stares and you know what? God's no different! Jesus once told this story about God's words being like seeds and people being like different kinds of soil. Some people are fertile soil where God's words take root and begin to grow, while others are more like gravel roads, where the seeds never get a chance to grow. Jesus' point is that when God speaks, we have an opportunity to do something about what God has said. Will we let those words take root and change us . . . or not? It's up to you. But God's words invite a response.

About this Plan
Some things are hard to understand — like chemistry or verb conjugations. When we face a problem we're struggling to understand, it helps to know someone we trust can explain it to us. Jesus spent time helping his followers understand difficult ideas about God. Jesus did this by using stories and metaphors, called parables. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum we’ll unpack Jesus’ teachings.
