Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"Sample

Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"

DAY 28 OF 28

Oftentimes, our joy depends on what we have or what we achieve.

We are happy when we receive a gift, we win a competition, or when we play a game.

Imagine this. It’s your birthday but no one gives you any presents nor wishes you a happy birthday. How would you feel? What if you lose in a competition? What if your game console gets broken? Can you still be joyful?

If joy is generated from pleasant circumstances, then King David wouldn’t have been able to praise God all his life. He realized that joy comes from the Lord. In Psalms 16:11b (NIV), he wrote to God, “You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasure at Your right hand.”

That’s why he came to God. As he praised God and looked to Him, he received joy from the Lord.

Devotion for Parents
Do we have something that we hold on to that gives us joy? It could be money, family, career, just to name a few. Remember, Jesus is the only source of joy. Search for His face during your prayer time every day, praise Him and read the Bible, so that Jesus fills your heart and you can be joyful no matter what.

Devotion for Kids
Try to remember what makes you happy today? Is it that good score you received? Is it meeting your friend at school? Is it winning a game? Whatever it is, always praise God and His joy shall fill your heart.

Family Devotion Time
Stand together with your family.

Turn off your phones if necessary.

Sing one or two songs with some movements.

God will give you and your family His joy.
