Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"Sample
People have the tendency to compare themselves with others, both adults and children alike. What’s worse is, we compare other people’s strengths to our weaknesses. Not exactly apple to apple comparison, is it?
“How did she get that? Why didn’t I?”
“How can he play the piano better than me?”
“What’s wrong with me? Their business is flourishing. Mine? Not so much”
Sound familiar? Seldom do we see our own strengths that other people may not have.
To have joy in your life, learn to put a stop to the comparison game. Be thankful for what you have. You never know there may be people out there who wish they had what you have right now. So, open your eyes to see the things you actually have and be thankful. Let His joy be abundant in your life.
Devotion for Parents
As parents, we don’t always compare ourselves to others, but we compare our kids with other people’s, though not on purpose. Not only will we lose our joy, but our children will also.
Have you ever hurt your children’s feelings by comparing them? If you have, this is the right time to apologize and restore your relationship with them.
Devotion for Kids
A jealous heart arises when we see what others have and what we don’t. When we are envious, we can’t see the blessings that God has given to us.
Are you feeling jealous right now? To your sibling or your friends? Try to remember the blessings that God has given to you and be thankful.
Family Devotion Time
Invite your family to share an experience when they felt jealous. What made them jealous?
Then try to remember all the blessings that God has given to the whole family. See that they are more than what you think you don’t have.
