The Greatest in God’s Eyes
The one with the most authority among you should act as if he is the least important. The one who leads should be like one who serves. Luke 22:26
During the last supper, Jesus’ disciples were arguing with one another about who was the greatest among them. Jesus reminded them not to follow the principle of this world about being the greatest. Instead, He told them how to become great according to the principle of the kingdom of God.
Jesus says the one who humbly serves is the greatest in God’s eyes.
To serve here is not only limited to serving in church by being a singer, musician, or Sunday school teacher. It is about being humble and showing God’s love to the people around you on a daily basis.
You can cheer someone up, give your listening ears to a friend who needs someone to talk to, help your teacher carry his books to the office, help your sister or brother, prepare breakfast for your parents, or do many other things.
Being a servant may not be great in the world’s eyes, but Jesus says this is the very definition of greatness in the eyes of God.
Prayer
Dear God, I want to serve with a humble heart at home, school, tuition class, and everywhere I go. I want to be the greatest in Your eyes! Amen.
