Week Four - Day Two - I Praise God
Welcome to our ‘Run the Race’ Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey through the Bible. We are taking a look at some people in the Bible to find out how they ‘Run the Race’ that God set before them. Each of us has a ‘Race to Run’, something that God has made us for. Our ‘Race’ is like a lane on the running track but the best, most exciting thing is, we get to ‘Run our Race’ together with God and He provides EVERYTHING that we need to complete our Race!
God had sent Samuel to Jesse to find the next King of Israel - who will it be?......

A Good Heart - in the Beginners Bible - (Pages 168-172) or 1 Samuel 15:1 - 16:13
When Samuel looked at Jesse’s sons he thought, ‘these are strong looking men.’
But God said to Samuel - “I do not look at the outside of a person. I look at the inside of a person. I look at the heart.”
God is our creator, so He knows everything about us. He knows how we think, what we say, how we live our lives, nothing is hidden from God.
Sometimes we may have bad thoughts, do bad things or even say bad things, God knows them all and He still loves us.
God does not look at the outside of us, how good or bad we are, the clothes we wear or how we look. God loves us, He looks at our hearts and loves it when we love and praise Him.
Praise comes from the heart, when we love God we can praise Him from our hearts.
ASK:
How is your heart today? Do you love God? Can you praise God today?
Spend a few moments thinking about how your heart is today, ask yourself;
Are you happy or are you sad? Are you cross with someone or something, or are you a little worried?
However you feel today, you can remember God loves you and He loves it when you praise Him! Come let's praise God together today!
REMEMBER:
‘So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is set before us and never give up’ (Hebrews 12:1)
SAY:
I am an overcomer
I can run my race
I can raise a happy sound.
His people all around.
My God has given me everything
He is faithful and true,
With my eyes firmly fixed on Him
His power will get me through!
In Jesus name, Amen.
