Week Four - Day Five - I Praise God
Welcome to our ‘Run the Race’ Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey through the Bible. We are taking a look at some people in the Bible to find out how they ‘Run the Race’ that God set before them. Each of us has a ‘Race to Run’, something that God has made us for. Our ‘Race’ is like a lane on the running track but the best, most exciting thing is, we get to ‘Run our Race’ together with God and He provides EVERYTHING that we need to complete our Race!
God told Samuel - David is the one - then Samuel anointed David.
READ:
A Good Heart - in the Beginners Bible - (Pages 168-172) or 1 Samuel 15:1 - 16:13
As soon as David arrived God told Samuel that this is the one I want to be the next King.
Samuel anointed David - he poured oil over David's head - this was to show everyone that David was God’s chosen King.
As Samuel poured the oil over David’s head, David was filled with God’s power!
Can you imagine being filled with the power of God? The God who created the Universe! How do you think David would feel?
ASK:
Do you know that you can also be filled with God’s power?
Have a chat with your grownup and think about all the wonderful things about you that you know God has given you - this is God’s power in you!
With God’s power you can pray, you can sing, you can dance, you can love others, you are wonderfully made and loved by the creator of the Universe!
Maybe you can celebrate you and how wonderfully God made you today - ask your grownup to send us some photos of you celebrating you today on Facebook or Instagram.
REMEMBER:
‘So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is set before us and never give up’ (Hebrews 12:1)
SAY:
I am an overcomer
I can run my race
I can raise a happy sound.
His people all around.
My God has given me everything
He is faithful and true,
With my eyes firmly fixed on Him
His power will get me through!
