 Week Five - Day Two - God Helps Me 

Welcome to our ‘Run the Race’ Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey through the Bible.  We are taking a look at some people in the Bible to find out how they ‘Run the Race’ that God set before them.  Each of us has a ‘Race to Run’, something that God has made us for.  Our ‘Race’ is like a lane on the running track but the best, most exciting thing is, we get to ‘Run our Race’ together with God and He provides EVERYTHING that we need to complete our Race!

Elijah and Elisha needed to cross a river - how would God help them? 

READ:

‘Chariot of Fire’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 216  - 221) or in 1 Kings 19:19-21 and 2 Kings 2:1-13.

Elijah and Elisha were very special to God and He used them in a very special way; to travel and tell lots of people all about His love. 

One day Elijah and Elisha stopped at a river!  They wanted to get to the other side but weren’t sure how they could cross the river. 

Elijah took off his coat, and struck the water with it! The water split in two and they were able to walk through on a dry path!  

Elijah and Elisha trusted that God would move for them - they had faith. 

ASK:

Just like Elijah and Elisha we can have faith that God will move for us.

REMEMBER:

‘So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is set before us and never give up’ (Hebrews 12:1) 

SAY:

I am an overcomer  

I can run my race

I can raise a happy sound.

His people all around.

My God has given me everything

He is faithful and true,

With my eyes firmly fixed on Him

His power will get me through!
