Run the Raceサンプル
Week Five - Day Four - God Helps Me
Welcome to our ‘Run the Race’ Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey through the Bible. We are taking a look at some people in the Bible to find out how they ‘Run the Race’ that God set before them. Each of us has a ‘Race to Run’, something that God has made us for. Our ‘Race’ is like a lane on the running track but the best, most exciting thing is, we get to ‘Run our Race’ together with God and He provides EVERYTHING that we need to complete our Race!
It was almost time for Elijah to go to heaven - Elisha wanted a double portion of God’s spirit.
READ:
‘Chariot of Fire’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 216 - 221) or in 1 Kings 19:19-21 and 2 Kings 2:1-13.
Elijah knew it was almost time for him to go to heaven and so he asked Elisha if there was anything he wanted?
Elisha said - “I want a double portion of the spirit God has given you.”
Elisha had been journeying with Elijah a long time and had seen how God’s spirit helped him to ‘Run the Race’
ASK:
God wants us all to be led by His Spirit - can you think of anyone that is led by God’s spirit?
Have a chat with your grownup about this and see together if there are any people who help you to see how God’s spirit leads.
We would love to know who encourages you in this way so that we can celebrate them with you!
REMEMBER:
‘So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is set before us and never give up’ (Hebrews 12:1)
SAY:
I am an overcomer
I can run my race
I can raise a happy sound.
His people all around.
My God has given me everything
He is faithful and true,
With my eyes firmly fixed on Him
His power will get me through!
In Jesus name, Amen.
