Week Five - Day Five  - God Helps Me 

Welcome to our ‘Run the Race’ Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey through the Bible.  We are taking a look at some people in the Bible to find out how they ‘Run the Race’ that God set before them.  Each of us has a ‘Race to Run’, something that God has made us for.  Our ‘Race’ is like a lane on the running track but the best, most exciting thing is, we get to ‘Run our Race’ together with God and He provides EVERYTHING that we need to complete our Race!

Chariots of fire, heavenly whirlwind and Elijah being taken up to heaven….. The miraculous hand of our God. 

READ:

‘Chariot of Fire’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 216  - 221) or in 1 Kings 19:19-21 and 2 Kings 2:1-13. 

Suddenly a fiery chariot pulled by fiery horses came down from the sky! 

It separated the two men and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind to be with God!

Can you imagine how awesome this would be to see?  

God is a God of miracles and can make the impossible happen - even send fiery chariots to take people to heaven. 

ASK:

Have you ever seen God’s miraculous power? 

Chat to your grownup about this and thank God for how good He is!

REMEMBER:

‘So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is set before us and never give up’ (Hebrews 12:1) 

SAY:

I am an overcomer  

I can run my race

I can raise a happy sound.

His people all around.

My God has given me everything

He is faithful and true,

With my eyes firmly fixed on Him

His power will get me through!
