Have you ever tried to give someone directions to your house or school? You might know how to get there by looking out for certain landmarks that you recognise, but others may not. “Turn left at the triple palm trees, then turn right at the tree where I once saw a bird nest, then go all the way past where my friend Jane lives and it’s one more block.” The directions make sense to you, but they’re not very helpful to anyone else. Pretty much everyone has a map on their phone these days, so you’ve probably learnt that it works much better to point them to the map and help them see which way to go.

When we’re on mission to tell others about Jesus, our job is to point people to Him. Jesus is The Way.

We can’t lead people to salvation without Jesus, our job is to point others to Him. Everything about our lives can point others to Jesus. People will see that there’s something different about your life and they might ask you for directions. When someone asks you, “What does it mean to be a Christian?” or “Why do you go to church?” we can show them the way, we can point them to Jesus.

We point others to Jesus by telling others about Him. The way we live our lives can also point others to Jesus, being who God wants us to be and doing what God wants us to do. The Bible is full of instructions from God on how to live a life that honours Him and be the people He made us to be. Think of the 10 commandments, the fruit of the spirit and that’s just the beginning. God has made each person unique, that means He made you to be YOU, and who you are brings glory to Him. God has given each person different gifts, talents and things that you’re good at. Discovering who God made you to be and what He’s made you to do helps point others to Him.
