Living Wise - Sermon on the MountSample

Jesus teaches in the Sermon on the Mount how we’re to live as part of God’s Kingdom. Kingdom wisdom isn’t like the world’s wisdom. It can even sound opposite to how the world says a person should live. Jesus used three metaphors; treasure, light and serving to explain that we should stick to living by God’s Kingdom wisdom. You’ll read about these in today’s verses.
The wisdom of the world would say a person should gather as much money and possessions as they can, but Kingdom wisdom tells us that gathering up money and things isn’t what’s really important in life. If our life is focussed on gathering worldly riches, we’re focussed on the wrong thing. Having things isn’t bad or wrong, but if that’s our priority we’ll soon find ourselves off course. Jesus reminds His listeners that you can’t serve God wholeheartedly if your heart is set on other things.

About this Plan

The Sermon on the Mount is full of wisdom for our lives. Jesus teaches us not to ignore God's commands, to follow the narrow path, and to build our house on the rock.
