Living Wise - Sermon on the MountSample

Jesus gathered His disciples and followers on the side of a mountain and taught them about God’s Kingdom, we call this His Sermon on the Mount. Jesus taught about blessings, loving others and how to pray. Jesus taught important lessons that give us wisdom for our lives. Living wise means obeying God’s commands.

Many of Jesus followers knew God’s Word, which was known as ‘the law’, this included all of God’s instructions and commandments. Remember the 10 commandments God gave to Moses? Today we can read God’s laws and commands in the Old Testament, those listening to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount would have known these laws very well. Jesus explained that He was not coming to replace those laws and commands, but to bring their true meaning to life. Jesus was teaching everyone listening to His Sermon on the Mount that life in God’s Kingdom means we obey God’s commands.
