Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"Sample

Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"

DAY 17 OF 28

You can’t avoid having arguments, or even quarreling, for having different opinions in a family. These things, if not resolved properly, can cause heartache among family members to the point of causing separation.

Today’s verse talks about forgiveness. Sometimes it is easier to forgive someone who’s not that close. The ones harder to forgive are the ones close to us. Why? Because we expect them to understand us, and hence not to do anything that can hurt our feelings. So, it gets harder to forgive them even for the simplest mistake, whether or not done on purpose.

Let us learn to forgive our family. Our family here speaks of our spouse, parents, children, and siblings. Remember, they are humans too. They make mistakes. We ought to give them a second chance so that they may learn from their past mistakes and not repeat them again.

Learn to forgive the way Jesus does. He forgives us and remembers our sins no more. Likewise, we should forgive our family and not bring up the past again nor remember what they did in the future.

Devotion for Parents
What makes it hard for you to forgive? Is it repeated offenses or do you feel way too hurt to forgive?

Whatever your reason is, God asks us to forgive others the way He forgives us. Ask for God’s strength to be able to forgive others.

Devotion for Kids
We make mistakes. Our family makes mistakes, too. It could be an honest mistake, or on purpose.

Our part is to forgive them again and again, the way Jesus forgives us again and again. No matter how difficult it gets, let’s learn to forgive others!

Family Devotion Time
Discuss with your family the things that are more difficult to forgive and the reasons why.

Then, pray to God and ask for His help to enable us to forgive our family.
