Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"Sample
A family is a great blessing from God to mankind. From the beginning when God created humans, He established a family when He said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” God is glad when humans live in a family, for it is in families that His blessings are poured in.
A family should be a secure place whereby each member is free to say what they feel, to be open with one another, to support and strengthen each other. A family should not be a place of judgment, for when one member falls, the whole family falters.
Yes, each member of the family has their strengths and weaknesses. Our role is to continue to offer support, to rebuke when necessary, and together we journey toward the destination God has intended for us.
That’s why we have to apply the verse we just read in our family. May every word that comes out of our mouth be words of wisdom that please the Lord. May they be loving, full of praises to God, and overflowing with thanksgiving. Through it all, we can support and strengthen each other every day.
Devotion for Parents
How often do we say harsh things that hurt our children? We may have the best intentions, but the way we convey it is wrong.
Let us learn to seek wisdom from God when we speak, that includes the times when we have to rebuke our children. That way, our children will be willing to change because they understand the need to be better.
Devotion for Kids
Do you often say harsh words that hurt people around you? The way you speak to your siblings maybe, or even your parents. What kind of words do you think hurt them? Will you be willing to learn to change and not do that again?
Pray that God will help you and give you wisdom in how you speak. May your speech be full of love and goodness.
Family Devotion Time
Make a list of hurtful words. Ask each family member to contribute by sharing what hurts them most.
Then, discuss how to speak nicely.
End today’s devotional time by praying for wisdom and strength from God so that you can do it.
