Jesus the Creator
Reading: John 1:1-5
Key Verse: “Through Him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” v 3
This is just one of a number of verses throughout the Bible that refer to Jesus as being involved in creation. Genesis 1:26 records, “God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness”. Christianity is one of the few world religions to believe in One God. This is called monotheism. Yet Scripture also refers to a plurality in the Godhead. One of the Hillsong Statements of Belief shown on the website is: “We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.”
In His pre-existing form of God the Son, the person of Jesus therefore was instrumental in the creation of the universe and indeed of all humanity. Louis Armstrong and Sam Cooke both sang of a “Wonderful World” with trees of green, skies of blue and colours of the rainbow. Yet the pinnacle of Gods beautiful creation was me and you! Our very existence in such a wonderful world is all down to Jesus!
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for planning and creating such a wonderful world of beauty and placing me in it to explore and enjoy!
