Day Five -  God Speaks to Me

Welcome to our ‘Run the Race’ Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey through the Bible.  We are taking a look at some people in the Bible to find out how they ‘Run the Race’ that God set before them.  Each of us has a ‘Race to Run’, something that God has made us for.  Our ‘Race’ is like a lane on the running track but the best, most exciting thing is, we get to ‘Run our Race’ together with God and He provides EVERYTHING that we need to complete our Race!

Samuel heard God call his name but wasn’t sure that it was God……..Eli helped him to understand - what did Eli say?

READ:

‘A Voice in the Night’ - in the Beginners Bible - (Pages 160-163) or 1 Samuel 3

Samuel heard a voice call his name two more times - each time Samuel ran to Eli and asked if Eli was calling him? 

Finally Eli told Samuel - “I think God is speaking to you.” - sometimes we may question or doubt that we are hearing God. 

In the Bible in John 10:27 ICB it says;

My sheep listen to my voice.  I know them, and they follow me. 

We are God’s sheep, we can listen when God speaks and then follow what He says. 

ASK:

When someone speaks to you and you don’t hear what they have said what do you do? 

We can ask them to repeat themselves or speak again - we can also ask God to speak again. 

Maybe you could ask God to speak to you today?   Pray with your grownup that you would hear God’s voice today - remember God speaks to us in lots of wonderful ways. 

When we know God’s voice we can Run the Race set before us with confidence knowing God is with us! 

REMEMBER:

‘So we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race that is set before us and never give up’ (Hebrews 12:1) 

SAY:

I am an overcomer  

I can run my race

I can raise a happy sound.

His people all around.

My God has given me everything

He is faithful and true,

With my eyes firmly fixed on Him

His power will get me through!
