The Fire WithinMuestra
CUT ABOVE THE REST
READ
Esther had a lot to be insecure about. She was an orphan raised by her cousin Mordecai who was kind enough to take her as his own daughter. She had no idea how it was to be cared for by a mother or to be loved and affirmed by a father. She was poor—her family belonged to the least of the tribes of Israel. She did not belong—Esther was raised at a time when the Israelites had already been carried into exile. She, therefore, was easily the least of the least.
Like Esther, the enemy tries to plant in our lives a number of reasons for us to feel insecure. It may be our family background, our mistakes, our financial state, our intelligence, our looks, even the number of friends we have. The list can go on and on. But just like Esther, God created us to have a unique gift, which we can offer up to Him to be used for His glory. Our identity is in Christ—not our past nor what is in the present. We can be secure knowing that He has chosen us from the beginning of time to know Him and make Him known.
REFLECT
1. What are the things about yourself that you are most insecure about?
2. How are these things hindering you from doing what God wants you to do or being what God wants you to be?
RESPOND
1. Find someone you can be accountable with and ask that person to pray with you whenever you feel insecure.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to constantly remind you of your identity in Christ whenever you feel like your insecurities are hindering you from achieving great things for Him.
