THE ONE-STEP STRATEGY

In those days, the law states that anyone who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned by the him will be put to death. Esther, therefore, was caught between choosing whether she gets killed together with her people (if and when the fact that she is an Israelite gets discovered) or get killed first for breaking the law. This is clearly a matter of life and death!

When we find ourselves in this situation, we usually come up with a myriad of strategies. Esther’s initial response was to fast and pray, and have others back her up in the same way. Our default is to face circumstances with our own strength only to find out later that our strength is never enough to sustain us. It is one thing to know that God can bless our ways but it is another to understand that He has the best of strategies.

In taking a stand in your campus, in reaching out to your classmates and friends, in fighting the good fight of faith, our strategy only needs a single step—to birth our plan of actions through coming to Him in prayer and fasting.

1. Have you spent more time strategizing and figuring things out on your own rather than communing with God and asking Him to reveal His plans to you?
2. What are ministry strategies you have come up with that you have not really inquired of God about?

RESPOND

1. Schedule a time for prayer and fasting.
2. Ask someone to cover you in prayer while you are fasting or encourage the people you are doing ministry with in your campus to join you.
