Kwathi, esendaweni ethile ethandaza, akupheza, wathi othile wakubafundi bakhe kuye, Nkosi, sifundise ukuthandaza, kwanjengoko uYohane wabafundisayo abafundi bakhe. Uthe ke yena kubo, Xa sukuba nithandaza, yithini, Bawo wethu osemazulwini, malingcwaliswe igama lakho. Mabufike ubukumkani bakho. Makwenziwe ukuthanda kwakho nasemhlabeni, njengokuba kusenziwa emazulwini. Siphe imihla yonke isonka sethu semihla ngemihla, usixolele izono zethu; kuba nathi sibaxolela bonke abanamatyala kuthi. Ungasingenisi ekulingweni; sihlangule enkohlakalweni. Wathi kubo, Nguwuphi na kuni ongáthi, enomhlobo, aze aye kuye phakathi kobusuku, athi kuye, Sihlobo, ndiboleke izonka zibe zithathu; kuba ke umhlobo wam uphambukele kum eseluhambeni, ndaye ndingenanto ke ndingayibeka phambi kwakhe; aze asuke lowo ungaphakathi aphendule athi, Musa ukundaphula; seluvaliwe ucango, nabantwana bam basesililini nam; andinako ukuvuka ndikunike? Ndithi kuni, Nokuba akayi kuvuka amnike, ngakuba engumhlobo wakhe, noko ngenxa yozingiso lwakhe olungenantloni wovuka, amnike inani alisweleyo. Nam ndithi kuni, Celani, nophiwa; funani, nofumana; nkqonkqozani, novulelwa. Kuba wonke umntu ocelayo, uyazuza; nalowo ufunayo, uyafumana; nalowo unkqonkqozayo, uya kuvulelwa. Nguwuphi na ke uyise kuni oya kuthi, unyana akucela isonka, amnike ilitye; athi akucela intlanzi, amnike inyoka endaweni yentlanzi? Athi, ukuba uthe wacela iqanda, amnike unomadudwane? Ukuba ke ngoko nina, ningendawo nje, niyakwazi ukubapha abantwana benu izipho ezilungileyo, wobeka phi na ke yena uYihlo wasemazulwini, ukugqithisela ukubapha uMoya oyiNgcwele abo bamcelayo? Wayekhupha idemon, yaye ke isisidenge. Kwathi ke yakuphuma idemon, sathetha isidenge, zamangaliswa izihlwele. Kodwa abathile kubo bathi, Úzikhupha iidemon ngoBhelezebhule, umphathi weedemon. Xa lithi igorha lixhobe tu, lilinde ibhotwe lalo, impahla yalo ihlala inqabile; kodwa xa lithe elinamandla kunalo lalifikela, laleyisa, lilihlutha sonke isikrweqe salo elabe likholose ngaso, liwabe amaxhoba alo. Lowo ungengakum, uchasene nam; nalowo ungandibuthisiyo, uyachithachitha. Xa umoya ongcolileyo uthe waphuma emntwini, ucanda ezindaweni ezingenamanzi, ufuna ukuphumla; uze wakuba ungakufumani, usuke uthi, Ndiya kubuyela endlwini yam, endaphuma kuyo. Uthi wakufika, uyifumane itshayelwe, ivathisiwe. Wandule ukuya kuthabatha abanye oomoya abasixhenxe abangendawo kunawo, bangene ke bahlale khona; lize ikamva laloo mntu libe libi kunesiqalo. Ke kaloku kwathi, ekuzithetheni kwakhe ezi zinto, intokazi ethile yaliphakamisa izwi layo esihlweleni eso, yathi kuye, Sinoyolo isizalo esakubambayo, nambele owawanyáyo. Ke kaloku uYesu wayethandaza ndaweni ithile; kwathi akugqiba, omnye kubafundi bakhe wathi kuye: “Nkosi, sifundise ukuthandaza, kwanjengoko uYohane wabafundisayo ukuthandaza abakhe abafundi.” Wathi ke kubo uYesu: “Xa nithandazayo yithini: “ ‘Bawo, malaziwe lihlonelwe igama lakho; malongame ulawulo lwakho. Hlala usibonelela kwiintswelo zethu zemihla ngemihla; usixolele izono zethu, kuba nathi sibaxolela bonke abanamatyala kuthi; ungasiyekeli ekulingweni.’ ” Ke uYesu wathi kubo: “Ukuba ngaba ubani kuni uya kumhlobo wakhe ezinzulwini zobusuku, athi kuye: ‘Sihlobo, ndiboleke izonka zibe zithathu, kuba ndinomhlobo ophambukele kum eseluhambeni, kanti andinanto ityiwayo ndingamnika yona;’ ngekhe kwenzeke ukuba lowo ungaphakathi aphendule athi: ‘Sukundikhathaza; sendivalile emnyango; mna nabantwana bam sesilele; andinako ukuvuka ndikunike.’ Ndithi kuni, nokuba akayi kuvuka amnike ngakuba engumhlobo wakhe, noko wothi ngenxa yokuzingisa kwakhe ecela, avuke amnike ezo zonka. “Mna ke ngoko ndithi kuni: Celani, nophiwa; funani, nofumana; nkqonkqozani, novulelwa; kuba wonke umntu ocelayo uyazúza, nalowo ufunayo uyafumana, nalowo unkqonkqozayo wovulelwa. Ngubani na kuni onokuthi enonyana ocela intlanzi, asuke amnike inyoka, okanye athi, ecela iqanda, asuke amnike unomadudwane? Ukuba ngoko nina, nikhohlakele nje, niyakwazi ukubapha abantwana benu izipho ezilungileyo, wobeka phi yena uYihlo osezulwini ukugqithisela ukubapha uMoya oyiNgcwele abo bamcelayo?” UYesu wayekhupha indimoni edala ubumumu emntwini; kwaza kwathi, yakuphuma indimoni, isimumu eso sathetha. Samangaliswa ke isihlwele, kodwa abathile kuso bathi: “Iindimoni ezi uzikhupha ngoSathana, umphathi weendimoni.” Abanye babemlinga, befuna umqondiso ophuma ezulwini. Ke uYesu, ezazi iingcamango zabo, wathi kubo: “Bonke uburhulumente obuvukelana bodwa buyawa, nomzi ovukelana wodwa uyachithakala. NoSathana ke, ukuba okwakhe kuthe kwavukelana kodwa, lothini na ukungonakali ulawulo lwakhe? Nina nithi iindimoni ndizikhupha ngoSathana. Ke ukuba iindimoni ndizikhupha ngoSathana, bazikhupha ngabani ke bona oonyana benu? Mabaphendule, nigwetywe ngabo. Ukuba ke iindimoni ndizikhupha ngamandla kaThixo, yazini ukuba ulawulo lukaThixo seluthwasile kuni. “Ukuba igorha lithe laxhoba lafa amacala, lawulinda umzi walo, impahla yalo yohlala igcinakele. Kodwa ukuba kuthe kwafika elinye igorha elinamandla kunalo, laloyisa, lolihlutha sonke isikrweqe salo ebelikholose ngaso, liwabe amaxhoba alo. “Lowo ungekho ngakum, uchasene nam; nalowo ungandiqokelelisiyo, uyachitha-chitha.” “Xa indimoni ithe yaphuma emntwini, icanda ezinkqantosini, ifuna ukuphumla; ize yakuba ingakufumani, isuke ithi: ‘Ndiya kubuyela endlwini yam endaphuma kuyo.’ Ithi yakufika, iyifumane itshayelwe, ilungisiwe; ize ke ijike iye kuphuthuma ezinye iindimoni ezisixhenxe ezikhohlakeleyo kunayo, zingene ke zihlale khona; ize imeko yamva yaloo mntu ibe mbi kuneyokuqala.” Ke kaloku ekuzithetheni kukaYesu ezi zinto, kwavakala umfazi esihlweleni apho, esithi kuye: “Unoyolo umfazi owakuzalayo nowakwanyisayo.” Ke yena wathi: “Yithi kanye: unoyolo lowo ulivayo ilizwi likaThixo alenze.”

Wayesiti kubo: Xeshekweni nitandazayo, yitini: Bawo wetu osezulwini! Malipatwe ngobungcwele igama lako. Ubukumkani bako mabufike. Intando yako mayenziwe emhlabeni, njengokuba isenziwa ezulwini. Sipe imihla ngemihla ukutya kwetu kwemihla ngemihla. Usixolele izono zetu; ngokuba nati sixolela bonke abonayo kuti. Ungasingenisi ekulingweni, zusisindise enkohlakalweni. Ongengecala lam, uyalana nam; nongabutani nam, uyaci̔ta.
