5 Devotions to Pursue Your God-Given Goals

DAY 3 OF 5

What’s Got You Stuck?

Be honest with yourself. What’s got you stuck in life? What is holding you back? What is hanging off you that, if you shook it off, you just know you’d be able to move forward?

It may be a circumstance, something outside your control. Something bad happened to you, or worse, someone did something bad to you. You were hurt, wounded, damaged. You’ve been left broken, weak, scarred. And now you feel powerless to move forward. You’re stuck.

It may be something you did. All of us struggle with sin, which can leave us feeling just as stuck. Not only does it erode our relationship with the Lord, but it can also cause massive destruction in our personal lives.

The first step in getting past your struggles is to identify them. That’s where you need to begin. But remember, no matter what that struggle is, it’s never too big to stop you if you have God on your side. He has promised to never leave you or forsake you. When you are brokenhearted, he is close to you. When you mess up, he’s there to pick you up. And he is your biggest cheerleader, waiting to see the smile on your face as you finish the race.

Your struggle is never intended to be the end of your story. In many ways, it’s just the beginning. It also won’t be the last struggle you ever face. But it can be the beginning of a bold, new faith in God’s provision and promises.

Struggles can stop you. You hit a roadblock and take a step back to assess the damage or find a way around. But in that moment, you are tempted to just give up. Throw your hands up in defeat. Don't stop believing God’s best for your life. Only when you do that will the struggle stop you.

A lot of times we expect God’s way to be smooth sailing. No problems at all. But the truth is that it’s often full of twists and turns. When you trust in God’s provision, you can relax knowing that it’s not the end of the road when you hit a bump.

What is your biggest struggle in life? What made you keep going when you thought you would give up?
