5 Devotions to Pursue Your God-Given Goals

DAY 1 OF 5

What’s Your Dream?

What’s your biggest dream? Not a dream of instant success or insane fame. But a dream to reach the unreachable, to impact the hurt and dying, to change the course of the lives of the lost. How about a similar question: What’s your dream job? Not the one you think will earn you the most money but the one that will finally fulfill your heart’s deepest desires.

Too often we stop short of our dreams and settle for something that will get us by.

Joseph was one of the most famous dreamers in the Bible. From his very first dream, he was diligent about making it a theme of his heart. He shared his dreams with others unashamedly, but that led him to some dark places. His very brothers threatened his life. His own flesh and blood sold him into slavery. He was thrown into jail and forgotten. But God did not forget. Not only did he unlock the physical jail Joseph was in, but he unlocked the dreams that kept Joseph’s heart moving.

You might feel like you can’t take one more step. Maybe you don’t feel like you are living your purpose at your job. Those dreams you had are all you have, but your energy is all used up.

Like with Joseph, God can give you the strength to take another step, and he can make it happen in a way that blesses you and others. Remember that God created you specifically for a purpose. God also created you with intentionality. He knew what he was doing when he gave you those abilities you have, those dreams you’ve pondered, and those goals you’ve longed to reach. And if he has put them in you, then he would love to see them come out of you.

What’s the biggest dream you’ve ever had? How would your life be different if you could accomplish it?
