Jesus Culture - Faith For Your CitySample
Everyone’s Chains Came Loose
Impact:
We were created to overflow with the presence of God and transform our cities. If we were lost in a dark cave with a group of people it would only take one small light to transform the chaos and lead us to safety. Paul understood the concept of the authority of the light within him and commanded a demon out of a slave girl who was a fortune-teller. This got him and Silas into trouble. They were beaten and thrown into the darkest dungeon of the local jail. But in this dark place, they decided to shine their light by worshipping and singing. Scripture says that as they were singing, “Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, which shook the prison to its foundations. At once all the doors opened, and the chains fell off all the prisoners.” (Acts 16:26) We were created to shine our light into this dark world and liberate people from their chains. When we worship and overflow with the goodness of God it literally sets people free so they can experience God’s mercy and love.
Prayer:
Jesus, teach me how to rejoice in You and release your hope and freedom into the darkness of my city. Help me to see Your heart for the people around me so I can lead them into peace and victory.

About this Plan
Building on the momentum from this year’s Jesus Culture Encounter conference, we are inviting you into twenty-one days of devotion to strengthen your vision for your campus and your city. We developed this reading plan, in partnership with American Bible Society, specifically for that purpose. God wants cities and nations to be saturated in His presence and we invite you to join us as we encounter what the Bible has to say about city transformation.
