Jesus Culture - Faith For Your CitySample
Multiply Yourself
Impact:
A lot of times it is easier to do things by ourselves. It’s usually more difficult to work with others in a group. But Jesus called His followers to work in teams and “… sent them out two by two, to go ahead of him to every town and place where he himself was about to go.” (Luke 10:1) We should not overlook this detail of Jesus’ instructions.
One important reason we need each other is for protection. As Scripture tells us, “Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone.” (Ecc. 4:12) Even more importantly, we are called to train up others and pass on our ministry, multiplying ourselves. In describing Jesus’ example, Paul points out that “It was he who ‘gave gifts to people’; he appointed some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers. He did this to prepare all God's people for the work of Christian service, in order to build up the body of Christ.” (Eph. 4:11-12)
As believers, we are called to raise up and multiply ourselves in the lives of others in a way that would have a powerful impact on our city. It’s not as hard as it might seem. Let’s simply go out two by two, and get involved in our communities where we are. Share your journey together with other believers and watch God transform your city!
Prayer:
Jesus, help me to discover the importance of working in teams. I want to do things the most effective way and reach my entire city with Your goodness and love.
About this Plan
Building on the momentum from this year’s Jesus Culture Encounter conference, we are inviting you into twenty-one days of devotion to strengthen your vision for your campus and your city. We developed this reading plan, in partnership with American Bible Society, specifically for that purpose. God wants cities and nations to be saturated in His presence and we invite you to join us as we encounter what the Bible has to say about city transformation.
