DAY 4 OF 6

Day 4: Community — Who's in Your Corner?

📖 “Two are better than one... If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 (NIV)

Marriage was never meant to be lived in isolation. From the beginning, God placed us in families, friendships, and faith communities, not just for social connection, but for spiritual support and accountability.

The people around you will either strengthen or strain your marriage. That’s why setting healthy boundaries with family, choosing friendships wisely, and building a support system of mentors and godly couples is vital.

For many, “leaving and cleaving” can be complicated. In-law dynamics, cultural expectations, and past loyalties can create tension. But to build a strong marriage, your allegiance must shift. Your spouse becomes your closest earthly relationship above all others.

True community is more than proximity; it’s about intentional relationships that pour into your covenant, not pull it apart. A Christ-centred community sharpens you, prays for you, holds you accountable, and encourages you when life gets hard.

So ask yourself: Who’s speaking into your marriage? And do they reflect the values you want to build on?

🛐 Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of community. Help us to steward our relationships wisely and build a circle that supports our marriage. Give us grace to honour family, courage to set boundaries, and wisdom to invest in godly friendships. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

💭 Reflection Question
Who do you need to draw closer to or set a boundary with to protect and strengthen your marriage?
