Trusting Jesus

• God's sovereignty doesn't mean sitting idly by. Rather, He works through our choices and actions. He has orchestrated life in a way that His plans supersede our thoughts, actions, and desires. He works through these elements to bring about His divine purposes. So, in the context of relationships, seek God's guidance, listen attentively to His voice, and then actively engage in the dating process. Live, act, and find rest in Him, knowing that He is in control. He who finds a wife finds a good thing, but finding requires actively seeking.
• This raises a question though: Do you really trust in Jesus?
• The Lord is working in your life and your relationships - no matter how you feel they are going. If you feel you have messed up too badly, the good news is that you haven't. None of us are ever beyond the love and forgiveness of Christ. There is always Hope when we open our lives to Him.
• Life is about honoring Jesus and putting Him first. He is the one we will stand before one day and give an account for our lives. He is our Heavenly Father who loves us. He knows best - both the timing and the person! Do you trust Him? Your answer to that question is where you should start on your road to marriage.

Reflection:

Do you feel your past is too much of a mess for God to give you someone to share your future with? Do you feel you are not worthy of companionship because of some flaw(s) in your character that make you unlovable? How would Jesus respond to that thought?

Do you trust Jesus to bring someone in His good timing, if it is in God’s will?

Application:

1. Journal your fears about not finding the “right” person, or not finding anyone at all. Seek counsel on this fear with a trusted mentor/counsellor.
2. Research the promises made (and kept) by God in the Bible. Compare them against your fears.
3. Include these fears in your daily prayer items.

Prayer:

God and Father, I believe - help my unbelief. I trust that you have plans for me that I cannot see or understand yet, plans that work for my good by showing me your glory and grace. Help me to come to peace with the person you send and the timing with which you send them. More importantly, grant me peace with myself. Show me how to take joy in my relationship with you first and foremost in my life, seeing the sacrifice you made to win my life.
