Christ The King

DAY 4 OF 9

In this passage of scripture Jesus reminds us that his kingdom is “not from this world.”  It can be easy to read this and think that there is nothing to be done here on earth but Jesus also states that he came to, “to testify to the truth.”  We live in what is often termed a ‘post-truth’ society, so how do we reconcile this earthly reality with the scriptural truth?  We must do our best to be vigilant and conscientious in asking questions and seeking out truthful answers rather than simply being swayed by headlines and ‘click-bait’ internet articles.

As you pray, pray for media outlets, online information providers, advertisers, all those involved in crafting a message to their audience that they would be guided by a spirit of honesty and truth and not simply the ‘bottom line’.  Pray also for all those people, groups and organisations who fact-check, who ask hard questions and who diligently seek to share the truth with others.

About this Plan

Christ The King

Nine days of prayer (Novena) focusing on Jesus as the Universal King. The Roman Catholic Church sets aside the last Sunday of the liturgical year as the Feast of Christ the King. This study takes each of the readings from the Mass of this feast and explores a different aspect of what the Universal Kingship of Jesus looks like and means for us in our lives.
