A Dozen Easter Bible Stories for Kids, Children, & KiddosSample
Passover, Part 1: The Blood of the Lamb
Passover, Part 1: The Blood of the Lamb
Main Point: The blood of the lamb protected people from death.
Kids Devo:
God never wanted death to happen, but it came into the world when the first people disobeyed God. Since then, God has been working on a plan to stop death and give people everlasting life. The Passover lamb is part of that plan. The lamb whose blood saved God’s people is a hero in this story.
In this Bible story, a little lamb was loved and innocent. It was killed as a sacrifice to protect people from death. The lamb gave its life and blood. God accepted the lamb's blood to keep people safe. People had to believe God's promise to protect them by putting the lamb's blood on their doorposts. Then they had to go inside. If the blood was on the doorposts, death would pass over their home and no one would die that night.
Death is when a living creature stops moving, feeling, seeing, hearing, and doing. It is the end of life. All living creatures in our world will die someday. The people who gave their little lamb as a sacrifice were sad, but they were happy that no one in their family had to die that night. They were safe because the blood of the lamb protected them from death.
You remember, kiddo, Grandma Goodie loves you but God loves you more!
Let's Pray:
Dear God,
Thank you for the Passover Lamb who protected people from death.
It's sad that the little lamb had to die, but we know that it was part of your plan.
Thank you that you have a plan to overcome death and give people everlasting life.
Please help us understand how this is part of the Bible stories we call Easter.
Amen!
Play Ideas:
- Make Passover Doorposts
Draw a house with a door on a piece of paper, glue popsicle sticks on the edges of the door, and use something red (like paint or markers) to color the top and sides of the doorposts. This will remind you of the Passover Lamb's blood God used to protect people from death that night. - Get a stuffed animal lamb and dress it up like a superhero. You can imagine that the lamb has superpowers to protect people, just like the Passover Lamb did in the Bible story.
- Visit a petting zoo or farm to see a real little lamb.
