DAY 14 OF 21

GUARD YOUR ULTIMATE GIFT

JAMES 5:19-20

Deliberate sin vs. human weakness

We all sin often because we aren’t perfect. 1 John 1:8 God understands and has sympathy with our human weakness. Psalm 103:14 God easily forgives unintentional or “unplanned” sins. 1 John 1:9

God looks differently at sin you wilfully decide to keep on doing, with no intentions to stop doing it in the near future. The Bible calls this deliberate sin or “sin to death.” Numbers 15:30 & 1 John 5:16

These sins lead to death if you purposefully and consciously keep on doing them:

  • having sex outside of marriage,
  • worshiping something/someone else instead of God (idolatry),
  • cheating on your wife or husband or having an affair with a married person (adultery),
  • men having sex with men, women having sex with women (homosexuality),
  • stealing,
  • practicing any kind of magic, satanism, demonic, ritual, or occult activities (sorcery),
  • lying,
  • and murdering.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Ephesians 5:5

Revelations 21:8

Choices: to stay or to stray

God gave you a free will. Deuteronomy 30:19 While you stay with Him, He will never leave you. Deuteronomy 31:6 However, with the choices you make, you can walk or stray away from Him. In 2 Chronicles 15:2 God sends this warning to His people when they became deliberately sinful.

BEWARE Satan tries to draw children of the Lord away from Him with selfish, worldly desires. These worldly things can pull you in more and more until you backslide and become trapped in a lifestyle of sin far away from God. James 4:4

When you have walked away from the truth, your soul is on its way to eternal death. James 5:19

God forgives generously

God wants you to come back to Him if you have backslidden, and He will forgive you. Isaiah 55:7

Rather firmly decide to set your heart completely on Him as the God of your life. While your heart stays close to Him, the rest of you will too. 1 Chronicles 16:10-11

How are you going to make sure you don’t lose the gift of eternal life?

Lord, I commit my whole heart and being anew to You. Help me to listen, obey, and follow You while I stay close to You—in Jesus’s Name, amen.
