God loves you with jealousy
Jealousy has two sides. It is ugly when you envy good things that others have. Jealousy can be beautiful when you want to protect and care for those who are valuable to you. God wants to have that special place in your life as your only God. He wants your heart to be fully set on Him as your ultimate source of authority, love, and care above anything or anyone else in your life. Exodus 34:14 An idol is anything you make more important than God. For example, it can be an object of stone or metal, a relationship, achievements, sport, TV, or yourself.
Do you make yourself a god?
The devil convinces millions of people to live for themselves instead of deeming God’s purpose, ways, and plans for them most important. 2 Corinthians 5:15 People living this lie are driven by selfish ambition and desires, making the world a less pleasant place to live in. James 3:16 & Matthew 24:12
Worldly desires
The world likes to stir many desires in you, all coming down to being selfish. 1 John 2:15-17 It is clear that pursuing worldly desires is in total conflict with God’s will for the people, His creation. Philippians 2:3-5
Who spreads the lie?
Many films, commercials, and other media encourage a selfish lifestyle, pushing the message that you have the right to look and feel good. This motivates you to focus on yourself and your own desires, telling you that you deserve it and are worth it. You should know that, worldwide, most people spreading this lie are mainly under the influence of satan. 1 John 5:19
Overcome the lie with the truth
You are created to glorify God with your life.
Isaiah 43:7
You gave yourself and life to Jesus to be guided by Him.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 & Romans 1:6
Honor God...
for who He is.
Isaiah 43:10
by living a pure life, treating others with love.
Ephesians 1:4
by living close to Him, in obedience.
John 15:14
How are you going to avoid living a selfish life rather than putting God first?
Lord, help me to never put myself, other people, or my desires before You. Help me to love and follow You as my Creator above everything—in Jesus’s Name, amen.
