For the One

DAY 7 OF 7

This week, we've talked all about what it looks like to care about those around us and follow Jesus' example of humble service and love. Our final passage today is a challenge given by Jesus to his followers. Jesus told them to not only forgive their enemies but to go the extra mile to love them and serve them, even when they are being mistreated. It's hard enough some days to love even the people we care about. Loving those who are unkind or unfair to us takes it to a whole new level. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is to choose not to be easily offended when people hurt us. To follow Jesus' command and example, we need to choose humility and love actively, even in the most challenging moments. The Holy Spirit is with us, giving us strength and love. Loving our enemies isn't easy, but it is worth it!

Challenge: Write down Luke 6:27-28 and try to memorize it. Use it as a reminder to love those around you, even when they are not showing love to you.

Going Deeper: Try going the extra mile when people mistreat you today. If someone is unkind to you, tries to hurt you, or treats you poorly, stop and pray for them. Then, offer to serve them or do something to fill their needs. Choose to love your enemies and show genuine care and humility today.

About this Plan

For the One

In Luke, Jesus tells a story about a man who leaves behind 99 sheep to search for one that had gotten lost. We all have friends who are lost - that need Jesus. We are to share Jesus with them - not just with our words but also with our actions. *This plan was written by one of the students at LCBC Church!
