For the OneSample

Most of us are told to share with people around us from a very young age- our toys, our time, our ideas. As a child, we most likely threw a tantrum but shared our things because it's what someone else told us to do, not because we actually wanted to. So, how do we change our mindset as we get older to care about actually sharing? As followers of Jesus, it's our job to care about what he cares about. And the truth is that Jesus cares deeply about others. He loves those around us so much that he was willing to die for them. Talk about sharing something! Jesus shared his life out of love for us. Over this next week, we're going to talk about what it looks like to care about others- not because it's what someone else is telling us to do, but because we're following Jesus' example.

Challenge: Today, look for opportunities to serve others' needs above your own. Maybe you let someone go ahead of you in line or willingly share something with someone when they ask. Look for opportunities to choose humility today.

Going Deeper: Pick someone in your life who is most challenging for you to love- a sibling you don't get along with, someone at school who bothers you, or someone in your neighborhood that gets on your nerves. Then, do one intentional thing today to love them and place their needs first in your life. Take time to pray for them, too!
