For the One

DAY 5 OF 7

Yesterday, we talked about proving our faith with our actions. Today, we will look at what it looks like to have an active faith. Jesus told his followers a story about a king and a herd of sheep and goats. In this story, Jesus was giving a picture of separating people who live an active faith from those who don't. The "sheep" represent people who live out what they believe, caring for those in need, loving others as Jesus did, and proving their faith through their actions. The "goats" represent those who did nothing to help those around them or live out their faith. Jesus said that when we serve those around us, we are really serving him. We want to live like the sheep, who actually took care of those around them. So, the next time you have an opportunity to love someone, think about it not as if you're loving another human, but as if you're loving Jesus himself.

Challenge: Are you a goat or a sheep? Take time today to reflect on how you live, and be honest with yourself and God. Then, take a moment to pray and ask God to soften your heart to others.

Going Deeper: Make a list of things you can do to be a "sheep" today. It could be doing extra work around the house, taking someone's shift at work, or staying late at school to tutor someone struggling. Try to cross things off your list and pray for opportunities to choose love.

About this Plan

For the One

In Luke, Jesus tells a story about a man who leaves behind 99 sheep to search for one that had gotten lost. We all have friends who are lost - that need Jesus. We are to share Jesus with them - not just with our words but also with our actions. *This plan was written by one of the students at LCBC Church!
