For the One

DAY 2 OF 7

Most of us have heard the phrase "love your neighbor as yourself." But have you thought about what that actually means? Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, he gave some final advice to his disciples. He told them to love one another in the same way he loved each of them. It's impossible to love others in the exact same way that Jesus did because Jesus is perfect, and his love is, too. But it's a really good goal to shoot for if we aim to love others with the same humility, sacrifice, and care that Jesus does. And the good news is that we have the Holy Spirit inside of us, helping us treat others with love beyond anything we could do on our own.

Challenge: Think of one person in your life that you can love. Then, look for ways to love that person with humility, sacrifice, and care throughout the day. Try thinking of creative ways to show love, like writing an encouraging note, asking to help with a project, or just offering a listening ear.

Going Deeper: Today, every time you do something to love yourself, do that same thing to love someone else, too. So if you buy yourself a cup of coffee, buy one for a friend. If you make yourself a snack, give one to your siblings, too. Find ways to love others as yourself today.

About this Plan

For the One

In Luke, Jesus tells a story about a man who leaves behind 99 sheep to search for one that had gotten lost. We all have friends who are lost - that need Jesus. We are to share Jesus with them - not just with our words but also with our actions. *This plan was written by one of the students at LCBC Church!
