Through the Bible: Isaiah

DAY 18 OF 19

The Good News

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners
Isaiah 61:1 (NIV)

As we come to the closing chapters of Isaiah, we see how he announces the good news of God’s Kingdom. Isaiah prophesied how God will raise up and restore Zion, Jerusalem through one man – Jesus. We know that Jesus fulfills this prophecy Himself in Luke 4:21.

Jesus came to offer salvation and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour upon us, where we enter into a new time where we are set free from sins, the bondage of sin broken and His righteousness restored.

Jesus’ mission for coming was to seek and save the lost through the Gospel and as His followers, we know that the spirit of our sovereign Lord is upon us to bring the good news to the rest of the earth.

God has certainly anointed those who choose to follow Jesus to bring good news to the poor.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we declare Your sovereignty and favour over our lives. We thank You for giving us the opportunity to share the good news with the people around us. We ask for Your anointing of the Holy Spirit that we may do these good works in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Isaiah

The book of Isaiah, which contains 66 chapters, is called “the Bible in miniature.” The first 39 chapters summarise the Old Testament which addresses the judgement of sins and the hope in God. The other 27 chapters foreshadow the New Testament which addresses the Gospel of Jesus and how God’s people will inherit His kingdom victoriously. If you want to have a Bible overview, this is the to-go book.
