Through the Bible: IsaiahSample
Love In-Spite Of
Blessed is the one who does this – the person who holds it fast...and keeps their hand from doing any evil.
Isaiah 56:2 (ESV)
As we read through these chapters, we find there is a very familiar principle of human behaviour emerging.
We find Jesus being abandoned by the very people He came to save, for whom He was beaten and humiliated. Jesus took upon Himself the curse that was upon us and suffered for our iniquities. However, the fulfillment of God’s will in the life of Jesus was considered by many, as if it was God’s punishment. This is so true of how we in our human weakness, sometimes look down upon people of whom we become so judgmental.
Yet God looks upon His people with compassion and proclaims the future glory of Zion. God calls upon His people to follow Him and promises an everlasting covenantal relationship for anyone willing to follow Him.
Despite everything that was done to Him, God pronounces blessings upon those people – the only mandate being to repent and follow Him wholeheartedly.
The question is, instead of being judgmental of people, are we being intentional when it comes to showing the love of Christ?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to reflect Your love to everyone around me, irrespective of how they treat me, just like how You were compassionate to those people who rejected You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
About this Plan
The book of Isaiah, which contains 66 chapters, is called “the Bible in miniature.” The first 39 chapters summarise the Old Testament which addresses the judgement of sins and the hope in God. The other 27 chapters foreshadow the New Testament which addresses the Gospel of Jesus and how God’s people will inherit His kingdom victoriously. If you want to have a Bible overview, this is the to-go book.
