Through the Bible: IsaiahSample
I am Your Only God
One person will say, ‘I belong to the Lord,’ and another will use the name Jacob.
Another will sign his name ‘I am the Lord's’, and another will use the name Israel.”
The Lord, the king of Israel, is the Lord All-Powerful, who saves Israel. This is what he says: “I am the beginning and the end. I am the only God.
Who is a god like me? That god should come and prove it. Let him tell and explain all that has happened since I set up my ancient people. He should also tell what will happen in the future. Don’t be afraid! Don’t worry! I have always told you what will happen. You are my witnesses. There is no other God but me. I know of no other Rock; I am the only One.”
Isaiah 44:5-8 (New Century Version)
God says, ‘I am the only god. Don’t worry! I have always told you what will happen. I know of no other rock; I am the only one.’ Rock in Hebrew is the word tsur, a stronghold to take refuge in and a solid foundation to build on. We know from Psalms 61:3 that ‘He is our mighty tower,’ where we can be safe from any enemy. Again in 1 Timothy 6:19, to have a life that’s true, life in our marriage and in our family, we can have the best foundation in Jesus, the Son of God!
Prayer
Lord, I declare You are my rock, my support and my shelter. Please take my hand and lead me on. As the road gets rough, I treasure Your word and Your closeness. Holy Spirit fill me again; I don’t want to miss any leading, any guidance you give me, for a second. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
About this Plan
The book of Isaiah, which contains 66 chapters, is called “the Bible in miniature.” The first 39 chapters summarise the Old Testament which addresses the judgement of sins and the hope in God. The other 27 chapters foreshadow the New Testament which addresses the Gospel of Jesus and how God’s people will inherit His kingdom victoriously. If you want to have a Bible overview, this is the to-go book.
