I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life

Reading John 14:1-6

Key Verse: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” v.6

One of the greatest questions of the ages is, “what is the way to God”? Some have provided answers based on doing good, being kind, following a religion or keeping the commandments. Against all such responses, Jesus clearly and unequivocally states that He is the only way to know God. He alone possesses the Zoe life of God. His alone is the perfect substitute sacrifice and the only way our guilt and sins are removed so we are made pure to live before a holy God.

The word truth here is interesting. It contains the thought of that which is real – a reality. The atheist lives in a reality of unbelief, the agnostic lives in a reality of uncertainty, an alcoholic lives in the reality of addiction, contestants live in reality shows and even your neighbour lives in the reality of their day to day world. But Jesus is the Ultimate Reality. Jesus is the ultimate truth and the only way to experience a real relationship with our creator. Earliest Christians were followers of ‘The Way’ (Acts 19:23).  They did not merely believe in Jesus for salvation but followed His sacrificially loving lifestyle before God.

Prayer: I praise you Jesus that because You are the Way, Truth and Life I really experience the presence and power of God
