Jehovah Rapha: The Lord who heals me

Ex 15:26 If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.

The word Rapha means to heal, restore and make whole. Though it often refers to physical healing, it also means that God is the Healer of the mind, the soul, the land, the water and even nations.

In the Old Testament, healing and protection from sicknesses was conditional. It depended on man’s obedience to the law of God. But the law only succeeded in showing man his inability to keep it. Man was unable to walk in obedience consistently. He needed a Savior.

Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely He took our infirmities and carried our sorrows...but He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

Jesus perfectly obeyed the law on our behalf. Now we are in Him. Now God heals us not because of our obedience, but because of the finished work of Jesus on the Cross! Healing is the bread of God’s children. It belongs to us.

Luke 8:50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid, only believe, and she will be made well.”

Jesus carried our diseases and pains, so that we need not carry them anymore. Scripture says He healed all who came to Him.

It is by faith, that we receive all the benefits of the Cross. Just the way, by faith we are saved and by faith we are forgiven, we are healed too by faith. Jesus has become Jehovah Rapha for us!

Lord, bring me health and healing, heal me and reveal to me the abundance of peace and truth. Jer 33:6

Let’s pray:

Pray against any sicknesses or pains you have. Ask God to help you to enjoy sound health. Pray for wisdom to eat right and take care of your body.

Pray for sick family members and sick church members. Take authority over all diseases in Jesus’ name.

Pray for those who are backslidden that they would respond to the love of God
