Jehovah Shammah: The Lord is there.

Eze 48:35 ...and the name of the city from that day shall be: the LORD is there.

The book of Genesis starts with an intimacy between God and Adam and Eve. But sin enters the picture and the intimacy is destroyed. God again begins to establish His relationship by choosing a people of His own. He delivers them from slavery and dwells among them, first in the pillar of cloud and fire, then the tabernacle and then the Temple.

But His people still sinned. The glory of God departed from the Temple because of their continued unfaithfulness. Yet the book of Ezekiel ends by predicting a time of restoration: The Lord is there.

The glory returned to the Temple when Jesus entered the Temple!

Through His finished work on the Cross, now every person who believes in Him becomes a temple of God. God comes to live in him and her. Truly God is there ! Jehovah Shammah!

1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

The man-made temple where Jesus went was later destroyed by the Romans. Yet now, the glory will never depart from these temples, which God has made, that is, you and me.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- the Spirit of truth..

The Holy Spirit will abide with us forever! The desire of God from Genesis, to have intimacy with man, is thoroughly fulfilled now, through the work of Jesus.

I thank You that even to my old age, You will carry me and deliver me. Isaiah 46:4

I thank You Lord that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Heb 13:5

Let’s pray:

Pray for unity and genuine love in the church. Pray for an atmosphere of faith, hope and love. Pray for a culture of honour in the church.

Pray there would be genuine fellowship and true community where each person is built up and needs are met.

Pray for 1000 strong families in the church who serve God faithfully
