Day 5: Joshua – Courage to Step into the Unknown
Scripture: Joshua 1:6-9
Key Verse: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Joshua had spent years in Moses’ shadow, watching God perform miracles through him. Now, it was his turn to lead Israel into the Promised Land, a land filled with promises of milk and honey and enemies and unknown challenges. It’s no wonder God repeatedly told him, “Be strong and courageous.”
Courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to trust God despite it. Joshua moved forward, not because he had all the answers, but because of God’s presence. Every step of obedience brought him closer to fulfilling God’s promises.
Like Joshua, we often face seasons where God calls us to move forward into uncertainty. Fear may whisper that we are not ready, but God’s strength carries us. He goes before us, and we will see His faithfulness unfold when we trust Him.
Prayer Focus: Pray for the courage to enter the unknown, trusting God is with you in every battle.

About this Plan

Jesus told us that our weariness comes from carrying a burden that is too heavy for us. Instead, we are supposed to give our problems, cares, and concerns to Him and allow Him to give us the strength to do what He asks. He will teach us to do this over the next 30 days because He is humble and gentle at heart. God's word will show us examples of people throughout scripture who put their burdens in His hands and found rest for their souls.
