Strength for Tomorrow

DAY 7 OF 30

Day 7: Gideon – Strength in Weakness

Scripture: Judges 6:11-16
Key Verse: “The Lord turned to him and said, ‘Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?’” – Judges 6:14

Gideon was hiding when God called him a mighty warrior. He didn’t feel strong. Gideon was small, insignificant, and unqualified, but God saw something different. He wasn’t asking Gideon to be strong but to trust in His strength.

God intentionally reduced Gideon’s army from 32,000 to 300 men before defeating the Midianites. Why? So that everyone would know it was God’s power, not human effort, that won the battle.

God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). When we feel unqualified, inadequate, or overwhelmed, He reminds us that it’s not about our ability; it’s about our dependence on Him. We often believe that the best way to show that we are mature followers of Jesus is to be independent of Him, missing the point entirely. We are strongest in our relationship with God when we realize it is not by might nor by power but by His Spirit.

Prayer Focus: Ask God to help you trust in His strength, especially in moments of weakness or self-doubt.

About this Plan

Strength for Tomorrow

Jesus told us that our weariness comes from carrying a burden that is too heavy for us. Instead, we are supposed to give our problems, cares, and concerns to Him and allow Him to give us the strength to do what He asks. He will teach us to do this over the next 30 days because He is humble and gentle at heart. God's word will show us examples of people throughout scripture who put their burdens in His hands and found rest for their souls.
