Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
God’s Word
1 Samuel 3:19-21
“The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord. The Lord continued to appear at Shilo, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. And Samuel’s word came to all Israel.”
Hearing and responding to the word of the Lord as one of the Lord’s representatives set Samuel apart in Israel. He was a leader because God’s presence was with him.
What qualities set us apart as leaders or servants in God’s kingdom?
When we rely on positional authority and titles, our words often fall to the ground and die. There is no transforming power in those words, no life. However, when our lives are spent in communion with the living God, his Word is alive within us and we are full of faith, hope and love. Our leadership is upheld by God and his presence. God’s Word focuses our lives and the words we share with God, people and the world to whom we are reaching out.
Lord Jesus, thank you for speaking. Thank you that your words to me today are living, active and life transforming.
