DAY 244 OF 365

Covenant Love

Ezekiel 16:59-63
“I will deal with you as you deserve because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant. Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you…I will establish an everlasting covenant with you and you will know that I am the Lord. Then when I make atonement for you for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed…”

God is a covenant maker, not covenant breaker. His punishment of Israel’s sin did not mean he broke His covenant with them. God remembers His covenant with Israel and has even established an everlasting covenant with His people by making atonement for them.

If God can break His covenant with Israel, as some people think, then what hope do we have in the Church as beneficiaries of His grace and mercy in the New Covenant?

Because God remembers His covenant and is faithful to us, we also remember the covenant, and are convicted of our behavior. We love because He first loved us.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your love and mercy toward me! Thank you for renewing your covenant love to me again and again. I offer myself to you in covenant love this day.
